Black-necked Stilts (Himantopus mexicanus) dancing on the mudflats. American White Pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos) are absolutely huge! Some of the most amazing birds on the water, Black Skimmers (Rynchops niger) Dare to be different. Everyday this bird can be seen hanging out at the marina in this pose.

and from the Rara Avis Lodge Eriophora fuliginea leave hopper I also have some more herp pics this fellow looks quite happy, Centrolene ilex Hypsiboas rufitelus Bufo coniferus stream anole for the gecko-fans Sphaerodactylus homolepis the first eyelash stayed in the same area for some days so we took the chance to get some pictures in the evening...

Don, Very nice images! I assume that by distortion on the outside margins at 10-14mm you are referring to the stretching out of subjects that occurs as you approach the edge of the frame, especially in the far corners.

I simply use flash. As long as they aren't looking straight at you, the reflections/red eye is manageable. Flash at night, focused using the edge of headlight beams - Barred Owl. Flash in the day - Spectacled Owl. The red eye doesn't bother me. This was shot with flash at night, but using a bright flashlight to focus. Mottled Owl.
