That is a little different from the meaning that I understand. To me"bail on someone" means to"exit, leave, run away from" an already-agreed plan or activity. It is something done unexpectedly. It includes the sense of"leaving". If you are meeting someone for dinner, they could"bail on you" by not showing up.
