S parameter question. I am trying to understand S parameters and how they are measured. If I have a 2 port network and want to measure S11, I need to excite port 1 and measure the reflected voltage at port 1. If I set V to be the excitation voltage and I measure the value V1 at port 1, how do I know the reflected signal?

Low noise amplifier (LNA) using CE3520K3. sMall. 0. I am designing an LNA at 24 GHz using the discrete RF FET CE3520K3. I am implementing this design on 10 mil Rogers 4350B substrate. Just by looking at the S parameters (attached), I can see that the FET itself is inherently unstable at frequencies below 11GHz.

E = sqrt (30*P)/r. Rearrange to solve for distance. r = sqrt (30*P)/E. So, to get 30 kV/m from a 10 kW source, you've got an effective range of 18 mm. Hmm, not much. Bump up the source to 10 MW, the effective range is 577 mm. Still not great. At 1 GW, the effective range is still only 5.77 m.

Wideband MMIC DA amplifier biasing. teleko7. 0. Hi all. First of all, thanks and congratulations to all the people in MW101. I think this is in the top 3 (#1) of the MW resources out there!! I've designed and fabricated my forst version of a 1 to 40GHz DA MMIC (GaN on Si), with 20dB gain and Pout >1W P1dB for the whole bandwidth (hopefuly).
