Standalone CurseForge launcher for Minecraft is finally here! Finally ...
Overwolf has called it the CurseForge App. I don't think any of them actually called it a"Launcher" (just"App") since they all have pulled up the vanilla launcher to actually launch the game. IIRC this is how Mojang has asked modded launchers to handle it (keep all account log-in stuff in Mojang's launcher/code).

It's not a virus, but the Overwolf Browser takes up resources and it's a waste, so it's bloatware. Click the up arrow in the Taskbar and right-click the wolf logo, then click close at the bottom. As someone who teaches courses on Malware, I would comfortably categorize this as a Malware.

just download the version without overwolf. you need to go to curse then download-> more downloads and pick the one without the overwolf stuff in it. Its adware, not malware, if anything. It’s Safe it’s just annoying bc it sets itself into Auto start and overwolf may Auto set overlays that are useless and annoying.

I see lots of people on this subreddit accusing Overwolf of being bloatware or spyware. But I personally can't find any actual evidence of this. If you have a look at what others claim, you'll see that none of them ever give actual proof of their claims. I have never had any issues with Overwolf hogging system resources.
